Sorry...but I Forgot

Has this ever happened to you? – you’re walking mindlessly then you catch sight of someone then you sort of feel nostalgic and ask yourself “do I know this person?” and unfortunately say yes to yourself but you can’t seem to remember the who, what and where. You continue to ponder as you go walking and you can see from afar that he is also undergoing the same dilemma. You walk past each other with a slow motion feeling like in anime and the movies and time stops momentarily when you sort of align side by side. Then it suddenly goes back to normal and when you’re almost a meter apart there is this urge to look back and you find out he did the same. Okay, that’s it, you do know this person you just can’t remember.LOL.

This happened to me two weeks ago when I was about to go to church service. I dropped by a bit to see my friends (who I wanted to come with me but didn’t want to) in the net shop they work for and told them I will be coming back after church (I overslept and just decided to go to the 6pm service). I have no events this weekend and it’s a chance to hear an inspirational message. When I got inside the mall, I bought donuts (I love donuts!) and was in my natural loli mode when the coincidental meet-up happened.

It’s actually funny and weird when these things happen. It’s a little embarrassing also because you don’t remember. I don’t have Alzheimer’s. But I do have STML . Short term memory loss. So there. LOL.

I don’t really mind coming up to people asking if I’ve met them somewhere (in time.haha.)if it’s really bothering me. Can’t help it-with the hundreds of people I meet everyday (naks!) I really can’t remember everyone (~gomen nasai). I can remember a face but not entirely a name unless the social interaction is really high. Although sometimes I also wish I don’t remember and recognize those people not worth remembering for. Hahaha.

We ended up exchanging numbers and a few talks on possible “occasions” we have had met. A dinner together followed after the church service and there – the next time I see him somewhere, I now have a name for the face. Lol. Although it leaves you with a weird feeling that makes you laugh at yourself afterwards, it’s still one way of social interaction. After all, you did meet the person somewhere, sometime. You just can’t remember. Haha.

How about you, ever experienced something like this?

P.S. His version of the story is much more weird. LOL.
