Highschool Reunion : IV-St. John

After 11 years, we finally get to see each other again.lol.

We had our highschool reunion last Saturday night, December 19. It has always been planned but didn’t had the chance to materialize except now. Thanks to Charmie Palis, we had the chance to see our highschool classmates again.

I came from work that day. I requested to go on half-day so I can travel back to Los Baños mid-afternoon. Traffic was bad -Ugh. My butt hurt from the long sitting on the bus which from time to time moved forward like a turtle. I guess I’m not used to long travels anymore as it had been 4 years since I last went back to LB. I didn’t have reasons anymore to go back – my parents and siblings have migrated to Manila two years ago. Only my youngest brother stays in LB during weekdays because he is still attending school in UPLB.

I basically grew up in Los Baños. I think we migrated there when I was around 5 or 6 years old or maybe earlier but that is only what I can remember.

Actually, the plan was we will be holding a reunion 10 years after graduation. Apparently it had been delayed by a year. Haha.

I didn’t have much news or update about our classmates after graduation except for the core group I belong to and those people I normally see within the area. You know how suddenly people are scattered after graduation – different colleges, migration plans, unexpected circumstances, etc, etc. So it was actually great that somehow, Charmie found a way to round us all up for a reunion.

So what should I expect? Who will I see? I didn’t know who will come. I wasn’t expecting everyone to be present since I know some of our classmates are already in abroad. And I don’t know how far these people have migrated themselves. LOL.

OMG! Clean Fresh Air! …can’t … breathe… need…pollution… LOL. ~I normally crack this joke whenever I go back. Perhaps that’s one thing I miss most living in LB – clean air. Haha.

Everytime I visit LB, I always say to myself – if I ever want a simple life again I’ll go back here. But there had been a lot of changes already since I was last here. One will notice how commercialized it has become. And traffic is as bad. Oh well, I guess that is really the trend for development.

Anyway, when I arrived at the meeting place, Lacxo Bar in Grove, College, I saw familiar faces. And shamefully to admit I did forget a few names. ~Gomen! Haha. But I caught up by quietly listening for the first 30 mins so I can overhear other people mentioning their names. LOL. Because I didn’t want to ask. HAHAHA.

There was food and videoke and people kept coming one by one. Head count attendees reached to 24 – almost 50% of the class. Some couldn’t attend due to prior engagements and as mentioned some were already out of the country.

We were all happy to see each other and then reminisce the so-called highschool days. We laughed at our mischievous adventures and tried to remember unforgettable experiences that we all went through. We also had an “update” session to which each one was asked to talk about themselves, what they had been up to, where are they working and living now, what are they doing and other things they can share to the group.

It was fun to see also that we had classmates who became real lovers after highschool. And the “chismosa” and “chismoso” that we are, we probe on their love stories and required them to spill it out. LOL.

It was nice to know that everyone had made a career for themselves. Some had been blessed to have their own family and kids. Maybe one day we can hold a reunion that would include their babies so everybody can see.

hs ex-lovers.lol.

All in all there was minimal change. We still looked like the 11 years were just a year ago. We still looked like how we were in highschool. A bit different maybe – due to maturity, experiences, fashion and probably environment but in a nutshell everyone stayed the same – personality-wise. Edgardo still talked slow, Maryann A. was still funny, Vichel, Maricel & Maryann I. are still the quiet ones.LOL. Of course, I belong to the loud mouths along with Reinford, Maan and Jessica. HAHA. Abeleah is now a girl (not that she had gender change but before she was a bit boyish.haha) and Filipina – WOW – is now an officer of the law. Too bad we didn’t get to be completed but hopefully, by next year, there will be more attendees. Well, we decided to hold a get-together yearly and by next year there is already a pledge for a resort venue thanks to Mommy Charisma (she was our valedictorian and we call her mommy because we look up to her). Wee!

And what is a reunion without narcissism? Photo ops were rampant – for remembrance. LOL.

At 3am, we called it a night. Until next year. Hehe.

More photos will be posted in my Multiply Account as soon as I get it.

Epilogue:

Reinford, Maan and I spent the night at Charmie’s house, just like we do before. Of course we didn’t sleep because there were a lot of stories to tell and to remember. Besides, it will take me long again to come back. Maan left around 5am to go back to QC. Rein and I decide to leave after lunch because we still want to have brunch – HAHA – just like the old days. Cha’s house was our headquarters. We normally hang-out there to do nothing but raid their refrigerator for food. LOL. We laughed when we remembered how her older brothers would scold us because we were still up in the wee hours of the night laughing and making noises when everybody else was sleeping. HAHA.

We left by 1pm because I still had to go to Makati for an errand then to Megamall to meet my brother and to catch a glimpse at the Christmas Toycon 2009. I didn’t get to cosplay since I came from Laguna but I still saw Vince and still had a set with him for the holidays. I’ll be preparing for the next con by January. Until then~ ja mata!
